Competition Law and Compliance – The Current Status and Future Challenges for Companies in Macedonia (sponsored by CMS)

It is often challenging to both run your business smoothly and to timely follow up on frequent and complex legislative requirements. In such noisy legal environment companies often fail to comply with important rules, which may lead to severe penalties and consequences. This is especially true for breach of competition rules, which many companies are not even aware of. Besides the competition rules, companies are expected to stay updated and comply with other important norms that regulate data protection, general privacy, anti-money laundering, anti-bribery…things that we today call compliance.

At the session sponsored by CMS, called “Competition Law and Compliance – The Current Status and Future Challenges of Companies in Macedonia”, renowned professionals will showcase compliance reality in Macedonia and provide you with practical recommendations on how to increase your compliance capacities and keep your business safe and updated.

Elena Miceva Stojcevska, Senior Attorney at CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz, Skopje will be chairing the session, together with the following speakers: Maja Andreevska-Blazevska, Compliance Division Manager at Stopanska banka AD – Skopje; Marija Filipovska, Partner at CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz, Skopje; Raško Radovanović, Partner at CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz, Belgrade and Valentina Nikolova, Head of Department for Analysis and Assessment of Concentrations at the Commission for Protection of Competition of the Republic of Macedonia.

The session will also give an update of the status and offer possible conclusions as to the perspectives of the competition law enforcement in Macedonia, as well as the requirements and benefits of compliance. The session will aim to answer important questions, such as if we should expect more investigations, dawn-raids and effective scrutiny by the competition regulator and what other areas of compliance, such as anti-money laundering and anti-corruption are particularly important in the day-to-day business of companies in Macedonia.

Be there! This session will take place on 8th November (2 pm – 3:30 pm) at ABC RoomMarriott Hotel, Skopje.
