Scott Resnick is a notable figure in the Wisconsin startup community and known as “Madison’s tech evangelist”. He was a founder and first Executive Director of StartingBlock Madison, a 50,000 sq. foot entrepreneurial hub opening in 2018. Resnick led efforts to raise millions dollars to build the “beacon for Midwest startups” particularly around technologies spurred by the University of Wisconsin. The organization connects startups to corporate partners clustered int he healthcare, manufacturing, insurance and gaming industries, and provides links to mentors and capital partners. Scott co-founded Hardin Design & Development, a startup focused on full cycle software development and enterprise web creation. He currently is the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, he grew the company to an eight figure revenue, building enterprise GIS web-enabled solutions, analytic dashboards and mobile applications for clients such as FedEx, Coleman Campers, Mercedes Benz, IBM, Toshiba, and Toyota. Hardin DD and its products have won top honors at the Consumer Electronic Trade Show and featured in an Apple iPad commercial. Resnick oversees business development, national partnerships and marketing, and revenue for the company.
Scott is a former two-term member of the Madison Common Council and entered with a pledge to make Madison a platform for innovation, specifically targeting social mobility. Resnick led efforts to close the digital divide by piloting free internet access for students on free & reduced lunch, created the first of its kind 1.5-million-dollar seed fund to spur women and minority entrepreneurship, and legalized opportunities in the sharing economy. Scott strongly advocated for sustainable land use as a member of the Plan Commission, and was instrumental in thepassage of the City’s annual 300-million-dollar budget.
